Non-target student needing advise

Hello guys,

I am looking to get some advise on a couple of different topics. To give you some background, I have a little over 3 years working for Verizon Wireless in both sales and management. I quit my job earlier this year to go back to school and am currently a sophomore at a non-target school in Wisconsin (Cumulative GPA=3.6). I plan on transferring to UW-Madison's business school next fall (will be applying to Michigan, Northwestern as well but due to low GPA odds are not good). I have also been doing as much prep work as I can such online excel classes and networking in Wisconsin. First I am looking for some advise on different internship opportunities while attending a fairly small non-target. Second is there any hope that I could end up in either Chicago or NY. If you have any other advise at all feel free to give it, thanks.

Alright thank you for the input. As far as the boutique IB internship, do you recommend just applying to the ones in the midwest area or do you thing I just literally apply for everything imaginable and hope something sticks? (I imagine its the later route) Additionally I am wondering what your opinion on the college situation is, do you think there are any other colleges that I should be considering that would have a greater benefit/cost ratio to the Madison in state route.

At this point I would realistically go anywhere in the country just to get some IB experience, so later on I would have greater opportunity to obtain a better internship. Thanks for the advise.
