Probably going to Central Park and watching the fireworks. We did the ball drop last year.
ditto
Family man?
Depends on what you're looking for. All the trashy college kids will be at places like Turtle Bay in Midtown East. It might be a little to late for something reasonably priced at the Marquee/1OAK/PH-D (if you looking for that kind of experience). I went on a bar crawl once for NYE with some friends and had a good time. Again, really depends on what kind of vibe you want, and if you're with a group, etc.
Not really looking for a scene like Turtle Bay. Something along the lines of Marquee/VIP Room would work.
Anyone been to Pink Elephant lately?
Any last minute ideas?
New Year's Eve in NYC (Originally Posted: 12/22/2007)
I'm going to be in NYC for new year's even weekend and will be staying in tribeca. I'm open to suggestions for cool parties/events on new year's eve night. Basically, I'm open to anything that doesn't involve times square, since that area will be a tourist nightmare.
dangerlist or rubulad are fun if you're into the hipstery scene. But since you're posting this on a wall street message board, you probably wouldn't be.
major club and bar is having a NYE event. They're usually 150-250 /ticket though and are usually super overrated. If you're an Ivy Leaguer, they're doing a pretty cool event for a good price at Cipriani's and another bar.
In any case, NYC is always nuts with new years. If you have friends who are throwing a party, i'd go to one of those rather than deal with the mass of idiots, b&t trash, etc. that flow through on the 31st.
yeah herserendipity is right, the B&T comes in at force, Im headed to a house party
NYC New Year's Eve (Originally Posted: 12/13/2011)
Hey guys, in a cruel twist of fate, my best friend has to be out of town when I move to NYC around the new year. Is there any way to enjoy New Year’s Eve without really knowing anyone else (non-professionally) in the City? I really want the NYE NYC experience, but if there’s just nothing a lone dude can do I may just save $150 on a plane ticket and fly in Jan 2nd...but I’d feel so let down arriving during the lamest time of year (fuck January, am I right?). Any suggestions? Do you think being a lone creeper is better than not being there at all?
Idk dude. NYC is awesome on New Year's Eve but being a lone creeper always sucks. Have you considered an escort service?
Yeah i wouldnt do nyc nye on my own. Everyone needs a wingman
Going out in NYC for New Year's is massively overrated. It's straight up amateur night. If you do it, go somewhere low-key where you know the bar tenders or get bottle service because the pre-pay parties make it impossible to get your drink on. Every random from NJ and LI will be out in full force.
A lot of people that go out regularly in NYC leave town for that weekend to avoid the madness (or for a couple of years we had private loft parties).
I agree. I worked on NYE for years and can tell you that it gets messy as all the homebodies that stay in all year will make sure to go out on NYE.
Are there some bar crawls or something specific to do? If you just introduce yourself to people and explain that you just got in to the city to be on time to start a job (or whatever), people aren't going to think you're a creeper and will probably in turn introduce you to other people. I would choose spending the time with friends over meeting random people though, and just fly in on the 2nd. As Techbanking said, it will probably be overrated and not worth the time. After you're more established there and get invites to a nice party or two, that's when it gets fun.
You must be a beautiful girl or have not spent that much time in NYC. No one in NYC is that friendly unless they need something from you.
The latter. It does seem a little too optimistic now that I think about it. In my limited time spent there people have been surprisingly friendly, however.
LMAO dude do you know how many people are going to be out that night!? Besides you can bypass anything with a good line of shit. It's NY man....make it happen...
I also agree with TechBanking. All the assholes from the tri-state area come and ruin Manhattan for the night. The last 3 for me were spent at a friend's place.
whatever you do, don't go to times square
second turtles. lamest shit ever. made me realize that TV is the biggest 'makeup' ever. You will curse yourself five minutes into the mob at time square on new year's eve. don't buy AC 360's crap. get laid, do anything else.
Wow. I guess I've been a gullible douche drinking the New Year's Eve koolaid they sell on TV.
Where to spend nye in nyc? (Originally Posted: 12/27/2010)
Hey bros, Im hoping you guys can help me out with this one. Which clubs to you guys suggest going to on nye?
depends on what you want, be more specific.
Sure. Im going with a bunch of different bros, from like 21-30. Its a diverse bunch, if thats important, not really into ghetto places. But really whats most important is that the chicks there should be fine, and also the place needs to have enough bars to serve the place. Last year I went to a place that was huge but only had 2 small open bars, so you could only get like 1 or 2 drinks the whole night. We don't want to keep going to the same places that we always go to, we're open to any chill places
I hear Times Square is kind of a big deal.

Is anyone doing NYE in NYC, or is the atmosphere too depressing for a proper celebration?
im doing a dinner partay at mi casa. and by dinner i mean staying in cooking and drinking vino
someone had asked me to host a 'party'but dunno who and the magnitude id want to have at my place
the city is an absolute hellhole that night. skip it. go out the 1st.
NYE in NYC is only for non-NYorkers -__-
Paris is the worst. This town parties harder on a Tuesday night than on NYE. If it weren't for all the poor people burning cars, it would pass completely unnoticed.
Paris is weak on a Tuesday. Actually its party scene is pretty weak in general. I bet NYE would be fun there
phish at the garden is the best choice for NYE NYC
I prefer a quiet night in. Give me a few friends, a couple bottles of Whiskey, Wine and beer and make it a nice and enjoyable affair to remember. Models and Bottles are a joke for NYE, especially with the absurd ticket prices that people want to get into bars in the first place.
New Years is meant to be with friends and not 100+ people you never met before!
i like nye in aspen, but that's not going to work out this year.
Frieds, how about NYE with about 30 friends?
ok maybe ill throw a rum and wine soiree at my place on nye. probably not but its possible. lol
I'll be there even if you don't throw a soiree.
