NYU Stern vs. Middlebury/Columbia
Hi guys,
I'm a high-school senior trying to decide between two very different schools. NYU Stern for Management or Finance & Dual degree with computer science or Middlebury's Combined Engineering Plan with Columbia where I would get a BA in International Politics & Economics from Midd and a BS in Engineering Management from Columbia's Fu School.
I'm getting about 40k in financial aid from Midd/Columbia, but the Stern financial aid package is still under review for some reason...
To be honest, I'm not very sure of what I want to do in the future.. I'd like to get into both management consulting and BD in start-ups or tech companies like Google.
Any feedback or advice would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend going to a liberal arts school like Middlebury. Can you just go to Columbia?
probably a 5 year plan. 3 years at midd and then 2 at Columbia. but columbia isn't guaranteed, correct OP?!?
Im familiar with the Columbia 3+2 program, from what i remember at the LAC i was u needed a 3.0 and some required courses to transfer. It shouldnt be hard to all and wil lgivwe you some extra time to do internships, however you might wanna check with the FA on columbia
I know it's easy to shit on the "LAC"s, but I know Middlebury does pretty well as far as placement goes, esp for a LAC. Wait and see what NYU gives you though... for sure.
You should reach out to Stern's fin aid office.
Assuming that Middlebury/Columbia = attending Middlebury for the 3+2 program and spending 2 years at Columbia, Stern is probably the best choice. Stern places extremely well in nearly all areas of business. In addition, you can always do a 2nd major/minor in CS from NYU CAS and potentially graduate in four years (if you work hard).
Wow thanks for the fast replies. My first post here and I'm really glad that I'm getting awesome feedback.
@WSOH, for the 5 year plan, admission is actually guaranteed.
@ICHCNYU, called their fin aid office today and they told me to be patient and just wait. I guess I have to hold it out for a few days.
@FutureQuant, if I'm not entirely sure that I would go into management consulting, but more so working in tech, would a Stern degree in 4 years still be more valuable than the two degrees I would earn in Columbia/Midd?
@Superlative thank for understanding :)
Hope you get good news. I remember when I was making my undergrad decision that NYU did take longer than other schools. At the end it didn't matter too much to me since I preffered a LAC to NYU CAS.
