Obama to end NSA's Spying Program

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is preparing to unveil a legislative proposal for a far-reaching overhaul of the National Security Agency’s once-secret bulk phone records program in a way that — if approved by Congress — would end the aspect that has most alarmed privacy advocates since its existence was leaked last year, according to senior administration officials.

Under the proposal, they said, the N.S.A. would end its systematic collection of data about Americans’ calling habits. The bulk records would stay in the hands of phone companies, which would not be required to retain the data for any longer than they normally would. And the N.S.A. could obtain specific records only with permission from a judge, using a new kind of court order.

Just to be clear, your cellphones can still be hacked if they're suspicious of what you're doing. The difference is that they won't be doing it all the time. So, is the Big Brother finally looking the other way?

I honestly think at this point the NSA is going to keep doing whatever they want regardless of whatever legislation is passed. Seems to me that the Obama Administration is just trying to do some damage control on public opinion.

Obama has the slowest fucking reaction time of anyone I know. This was the power move literally MONTHS ago. Now it is just lip service. Kind of like when you give Syria a redline and then do nothing when they run past it.

Obama is either completely oblivious or he has the shittiest cabinet of all time. Or both.

Spot on. +1

He makes moves at the pace of a snail.

Cough bullshit cough. They can still listen in on your communications if they suspect you. Isn't that the exact same shit they said they were doing before? So in other words "nothing to see here keep on watching middle aged women pulling each others hair out on tv"

Obama really isn't a leader. He is also in over his head.

Man, he is just selfish. The move was to elect Hillary in 2008. She would have won in a landslide, first woman president, had the experience and she could have giving Obama a token cabinet post to gain experience. 8 years of Hillary and they could have run Obama. 16 years of Democrat rule, first woman, first black president. Boom.

Only reason I can possibly think of on why this didn't happen is Democrats knew how shitty Obama was and knew if he was in the public eye, regardless of capacity, they would turn against him. Frankly, this is probably the truth.
