OCR - Applying to Positions 3.5GPA+
I'm planning on going through OCR soon for an SA position next year. I go to a semi-target, but I will already have an i-banking fall internship under my belt when going through recruiting. My question is what if these job postings require you to have a 3.5+ GPA when you don't? My GPA is a 3.43, but I would like to apply to these positions. I think I have a decent shot at these SA positions with an internship already under my belt. Should I just apply with the 3.4 GPA anyway and hope they will take a look at it?
By the way, my extra-curriculars/leadership positions are pretty solid.
I say round up to 3.5 since you're pretty close.
Add your finance gpa if it's higher. Good luck.
Wrong. 3.43 doesn't round up to 3.5. Don't do it.
...seriously? No one would ever round a 3.63 to a 3.7 because they're "pretty close."
I would add both cumulative and major...Good luck
I don't think those min. GPAs are ever strictly enforced. The resumes go to analysts anyway and they are not going to be tossing all sub-3.5 GPAs. It might help to reach out beforehand to alumni analysts at the banks to which you will be applying.
Well my finance gpa isnt better so that isnt an option. Im just wondering if I submit my resume will they consider me because of my internship or just toss it? I hear that having an I banking internship really separates you from those without. But my gpa is my main concern
bump
put 3.43 on your resume, apply anyway
OCR- Am I screwed because of my GPA? (Originally Posted: 01/04/2015)
Can work experience and leadership help in OCR if you have a low GPA (3.4)? I.E. (One of the banks recruiting for a MO internship has a 3.2 cutoff, so how much do grades matter once you hit the cutoff?)
GPA is typically a requirement merely just to get in the door. Once you're in, it's all up to you to get in pitch mode.
