OCR Questions
I've done searches and found answers to some questions, and no answers to others. I've also found answers that weren't as specific as I'd like, so I thought I'd like to have this thread for the undergraduate OCR process to keep the ball rolling for me and and anyone else who would like to chime in:
1.) I'm currently a junior at a Target, and have already begun networking (information sessions were weeks ago, I almost immediately followed up with analysts over email and then phone). I know its helpful to occasionally follow up again by email after having an informal phone conversation.
But what topics are appropriate to discuss? Obviously its best to present anything in the least awkward way possible, all the analysts I spoke to were cool and outgoing so I dont think that will be a problem. But is it annoying for them to receive emails about current deals in their industry group (i.e. if they're in TMT, talk about a tech deal thats going on even if their bank isnt involved)? The analysts I've networked with are all in the industry group Im hoping to get in, so we share that interest and I figured I'd capitalize on that connection. I can't think of much else to talk about other than anything interesting going on in finance, I dont follow sports much and I imagine it would be weird for an analyst to receive emails from some junior he barely knows on personal hobbies.
2.) When it comes to applying to both IBD and ECM/DCM, do banks really not care that you're applying to both? Do the MDs and VPs who interview you on respective superdays not know that you're applying to the other division? For any of you who applied to both, how did you handle the "why ECM/DCM" questions during interviews? (shooting for one, the other is a back-up)
bump?
