MBB Off Cycle?
Hey Everyone,
I work for WSO but this is a personal post. I am interning at a MM employee benefits consulting firm currently. I am hoping to make the jump to MBB. I graduate in December, and I am wondering what my options are. Do some firms recruit for January hires? Would it be a decent idea to look into off cycle internships that can transition to FT jobs? (Intern from Jan-May and then join FT?) I have been networking a good bit, is there anything else I can do to be more attractive of a candidate?
Side note: I was told during my mid-program performance evaluation that I was in the top 3 (of 15) and that I was very very likely to get a return offer. How would I go about telling employers about this? Can I ask for a reference from my current firm even though I am attempting to jump to MBB?
Interested in doing strategy/ financial competence. Not interested in employee benefits at all, hence why I am looking toward the future of my career and hopefully going to MBB. If I cannot make MBB, are their smaller shops that anyone knows of in financial competence/strategy? I always wanted to do IB until this summer so I have been attempting to learn as much as possible at the consulting industry as a whole.
Thanks all.

Off-Cycle: Have MBB final round, how do I flip it to get other MBB interviews? (Originally Posted: 04/14/2016)
I was interviewing in fall last year with MBB but did not make the cut.
Was offered an interview in Spring/Summer, so I took it. I have a final round with a MBB in two months! Problem is, I have not applied to other MBB this spring/summer, and it looks like the other two are not interviewing now (or am I wrong)? I probably missed the train... I should have been more diligent but now I have a full-time day job. What's the best way to leverage this MBB final round to get interviews with the other MBB?
You can't leverage it; we frequently turn down applicants who end up with jobs at one of the other MBB. Knowing that another MBB is interested in you doesn't matter to us; we only care if we are.
What country are you in, and what is your status? (student, experienced hire, etc). Having an interview in June is highly unusual........
I was a student when I interviewed last year. Now, I am a postdoc (it's a period of post-PhD training).
