Off-cycle & Summer Internships: Is Taking Classes During Feasible/Advisable?
Hey all,
Is it possible to take classes while doing an off-cycle internship? It seems logical that the answer is yes, but I'm curious as to how the structure (timing, schedule, etc.) of an off-cycle internships works compared to a summer internship?
Similarly, intuitively it seems near impossible to take courses during a summer internship -- given the structure/schedule -- is this the case?
Any related info., thoughts, or experiences are greatly appreciated!
If by off-cycle you mean spring/fall internships, then yes. I took 5 classes while interning 30 hrs/week last spring. I think most off-cycle internships expect you to only work part-time.
Nice, thanks for the feedback. How did you go about recruiting/was it a BB, boutique, etc?
I'm doing a co-op this spring as a corporate finance analyst in Dallas. It's only my 2nd day, but I'm loving my work compared to the college life. Recommend it for anyone ahead on credit hours. It's an easy way to add another related internship on resume, and the whole earning a good bit of money thing is nice.
Obviously, you could do some type of unpaid off-cycle IB internship where you work part-time, but if you already have some past IB experience like myself, the difference is marginal. I much prefer earning a pro-rated salary while taking time off from school.
