Controversial

When thinking about buying an alarm clock or personal chef or topless maid, just get the 3-in-1.

When she’s cooking the bacon in the morning and it pops and she gets grease spatter on her boobs and goes “ooh!” - you know it’s time to wake up in the morning.

Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Some life hacks for me.

I usually make all my meals at work light and right, but more importantly simple. Protein shake & banana or grits is my breakfast. Lunch is usually a meal from an online meal plan, and two times a week I go out for lunch. Doesn't require much planning or stress, and pretty cheap and the bonus is it's healthy.

Take naps 2 days a week right after work. And pick usually a Tuesday or Thursday to sleep real early. I work from 5-2 and every weekend these days, so usually go to bed by 8:30. One day I'll do it all early. Pop 2 melatonin's at 530, another at 6 and in bed by 6:30. Wake up at 4, feeling great.

Mondays I do nothing. Usually the most stressful and busy after work. I likely nap after work and literally do nothing after work besides that and hang with the girl.

Vacation. I plan two international and two domestic yearly. These 4 trips give you deadlines to meet and are excellent at refreshing you.

Most of all...sex 2-3/ day. I think that helps a lot with stress and giving you energy. Usually before bed and when I wake up everyday.

My fiance and I bought the do it your self type of wedding invitations where you get the the paper and card stock and everything, you just need to fill out the forms and print it and you're good to go.

I'll be using the office printer for about 100 of these invitations.

I have no idea how to react when people show me pictures of their kids. Or how long I'm supposed to look for. I usually just say "well done."

Kids are awesome, but also very difficult. She now drops them off at school, picks them up, has dinner ready, clean house, homework, time to do other stuff, etc... I don't get dirty looks every time I say I cant do a dr. appointment or stay home with a sick kid.

Getting kids home from daycare at 6 and trying to feed them something (semi-healthy) while they're screaming because they're hungry is a horrible way to start an evening. Now, they're home by 5 and eating a planned dinner.

Happy wife=happy life is part of it, but it's much more that out entire family isn't in a state of chaos and disarray at all times.

Definitely looking forward to following this thread, always amazed at the best practices / hacks other people have an incorporate them if I can. Some of mine below:

  • My phone is on "Do Not Disturb" all day and all night. My Apple Watch is set up to take all calls, so I get all my calls, but I get absolutely 0 "dings" and 0 "buzzes" from my phone. Taking control of this all day is probably #1 for daily productivity
  • Drink tons of water
  • Good pair of noise cancelling headphones - I use the Beats Studio 3s, but realize there are others probably even better out there
  • From time to time work on some speed typing tests, refresh myself on shortcuts for my browser (Chrome), computer in general, and Microsoft Office
  • Set aside ~30-90 minutes on the weekend to go to the coffee shop to do all my "shit tasks" that I have been procrastinating on (i.e. dentist/doctors appointments, flagged emails from weeks ago, you know what I'm talking about)
  • My power trio for productivity is Wunderlist (as my To-Do List) + Evernote (Notes/Thoughts collection) + Calendar (couldn't live without it)...keeping your head clear = stress-free life
  • Sleep and fitness are two areas I'm doing well at, but could improve so I'll let others speak to those

Spending 5- 10 minutes at the end of each day writing down my plan/action items for the following day really helps me hit the ground running when I get into the office each morning. Seems to also help prevent the random one off tasks from falling through the cracks.

  • Workout at least a couple times / week
  • Delegate where possible
  • Efficiency tools (BamSEC, LogoIntern add-in)
  • Notebook of items to prioritize / reminders (sounds trivial, but super helpful - like one of the posters above, I like to recap at the end of each day and make my plan for the next day)
