Office Visit Post Accepting FT Offer
I accepted a FT offer with an EB/BB in a regional office and I am back home for winter break. I haven't really communicated with people in the office besides a brief call and was wondering whether I should reach out to schedule a lunch with the junior people and stop in to say hello - how to go about all this (especially since I didn't summer here and don't really know the people that well) - etc. any advice is appreciated!
Don't suggest an office visit. That's their turf. If they want to give you one, they'll invite you. Just reach out, introduce yourself, and ask if they'd be down for lunch or coffee. Not that much to it. You don't want to come across as pushy
I would honestly not do this. Since you already have the job, this makes you look too eager and is overall awkward.
Agree with the other posters, you'll seem too overeager.
How to Arrange an Office Visit (Originally Posted: 03/06/2015)
Hi everyone,
I received an offer from an investment bank for this summer, and our sell day is coming up soon. I have talked to a couple analysts in the top three groups I am interested in, and I will be visiting New York soon. Does anyone have advice on how to arrange an office visit? Some of the analysts I spoke with mentioned that sometimes people will come in and sit in a conference room and analysts will filter in and out so I can meet more of them. Or do you think instead that I should email people individually that spoke with about grabbing coffee?
Thank you!
Yes, always go above and beyond. Don't underestimate it, people will be spamming them for coffee. I think, however, that you'd have much better response rate with senior guys, at least that has been my experience. Better feedback too.

I found out what group I'm in starting full time and I am going in for a physical next week. Does anyone know what these check-ups usually consists of? What sound be my main goal coming into this office visit?
I would guess you are going to be tested for drugs and communicable diseases, so your goal should be to not do drugs and not be sick.
physical at a dr.'s? if so, have you ever played a sport in your life?
You should expect a lot of coughing and ball handling. Dr's like to go steve nash on your junk...makes them feel important and helps them forget about how much debt they are in. Main goal should be to get an ADD diagnosis (if you dont already have one) and snag as much adderall as you can carry out the building. Seriously hope the OP is trolling...if not you'll probably die of some rare disease that should have been caught as an infant. Cheers!
Attending Office Visits (Ethics/Etiquette) (Originally Posted: 10/28/2011)
I have offers from Deloitte s&o, IBM consulting, Carmax strategy, and likely Capital One finance rotation and red ventures strategy consulting (will hear back today). I'm scheduled to fly to an office visit with Analysis Group on Monday and drive to an office visit with FTI Consulting on Friday. I've also been (essentially) offered office visits with EMC consulting and APT technologies (but have not accepted). Also, I signed up to attend the IBM explore your opportunity day in Disney World in 2 weeks.
BUT, I pretty much decided last night that I'm going to accept my Deloitte offer. Is it unethical to cancel the other office visits at this point? Should I attend them and then accept the Deloitte offer afterwards?
Thanks!
Why not go visit them all and then make a decision? There could be something that really stands out that could change your mind.
I agree, don't cut off your process for the sake of making a decision. Unless your Deloitte offer is an exploding one, take your time and take all your visits. If anything it gives you a chance to meet some different people and see various office environments. You never know, one of them may surprise you.
You're not in a rush. The good news for you is that this is a great position to be in.
I feel like you have to AT LEAST look at disney but thats just me
what's the downside of paying a visit? I say go check it out..
Go... it would be stupid to not explore your options
Dshack- did you end up going with Deloitte over IBM? Do you feel that you made the right decision? I'm pretty much in your shoes right now.
Meeting different groups in my bank. (Originally Posted: 08/18/2010)
I'm starting soon as a first year analyst at a BB in New York, and I'm going in over the next few days to meet with a few of the different groups. I was just wondering what I should expect from these meetings, and how to make the best impression? I have my eye on one or two groups that I would like to be a part of, so I'm just wondering what they will ask me, and how I can ensure that I get into the groups I want. Will they ask me technical questions like in an interview? Or will it be just a conversation about my interests?
It will be much more like an information session. Essentially they are trying to get to know you as a person and find out your interests, your background, talk about their teams, etc - pretty much gauging what kind of a fit you'd be with the group.
The technical stuff is done for the most part - you've already got the offer - now it's about finding out where you'll best fit - both from their point of view and yours.
Check out these articles on networking (and the sell day) and remember, you got the job already - be professional, but be yourself.
