Oliver Peoples' glasses. Are they worth the money?

I'm thinking of purchasing these frames (https://oliverpeoples.com/shop/men/optical/execut…). They cost $595. From looking at the financial statements (http://i.imgur.com/mcydnGa.jpg) it seems like Luxottica as a whole spends 32% of their revenues on creating the product. Since Oliver People's is a designer brand I'm also assuming that even more of the cost is going towards branding (maybe a COGS of 27%). This means I'd be paying $160 for physical glasses and $435 for the name.

I've checked them out at the store and they seems so nice. Do you guys have them. How have they held up? Would you guys recommend someone to buy them. I'm certain my insurance won't cover OP frames.

I have some OP sunglasses and used to have some eye glasses as well. The quality is great and the design is classic (my sunglasses are actually 9 years old - while I don't wear them daily, they don't look totally dated and are my backup pair I keep in my car). Despite sitting in my car most of the time for the past 2-3 years the plastic hasn't warped, etc.

If you have halfway decent vision coverage you should be able to apply your eyeglass credit to offset part of the cost. They can be found at many major retailers and chains which accept insurance - you just may need to shop around different optometrists. I used it for my eyeglasses when I got them and had really shitty vision coverage at the time.

Personally, I think they are worth the money, although you may be getting ripped off. I have a pair of Maslon cocobolo, and spent far less than $595.00.

If you have good coverage with your company, then I say you should do it. They are a timeless design that should last you forever. In addition, the quality is quite nice, with fun little details peppered around the frames and the arms.

They are nice but go to a reputable/stylish optical shop and look at a variety of frames. There are so many nice ones today. For example, I recently got Carter Bonds and really like them - both the style and the lightweight of them.

I'm pretty cheap but I didn't want to go cheap on something I wear on my face all day. Plus, as said above, decent optical insurance will offset some of the cost.

They're worth the money 100%. When looking at glasses I considered warby parker and other brands but they were complete muff cabbage. They felt cheap and easily breakable. My Oliver Peoples glasses feel like I could own them for a lifetime, and I cannot tell you how many compliments I get (and I don't even think they look that great).
