Oliver Wyman 1st Round Interview
Hey everybody!
I'm a longtime lurker, first time poster. I have a first round interview coming up with Oliver Wyman GMC for an entry-level consultant position. It's a 30 minute, over-the-phone case interview. (FYI, I have also applied to OW FS, but that app hasn't been responded to yet.)
What can I expect? This will be my first real case interview, aside from some mock interviews.
I am reading through Case in Point, and am going through the case materials from Wharton and Kellogg. If anyone has any pointers to give me or any other helpful advice specific to the OW process, that'd be awesome!
On another, slightly different note, wtf is up with the quantitative test they give? That was ridiculous!!
Have you had your interview already? I have mine scheduled for later this week.
What was the quantitative test like?
hey, if any posters are still reading this, i've got a case interview over the phone with GMC coming up in 3 days. would really appreciate any insight u could provide. how were the cases? any mindfuck questions?i read somewhere that they give some hard math stuff, but seeing as this is an over the phone interview, i doubt that, but if anyone can clarify, please do.
check out Victor Cheng's website and LOMS
Is LOMS that good?

hey guys, first time post here...(although been watching what's going on for a long time)
i currently have an urgent issue regarding the interview logistics with ow...just wondering if any ppl have experience in similar situation and would like to lend a hand to advise?
a brief background of myself - graduated last yr and started working in an Asset Management firm, but doing non fund management related stuff... = ( I've been thinking of switching a job since my first month on the current one ( seriously i do the banking hours and learn nothing ...or say i learn stuff which are not applicable anywhere else in the world)
BUT now when I checked the system...the booking choice section does not even exist anymore...got entirely wiped out on the page. I am very very very worried right now as I guess they might wiped out my candidacy as well due to me not choosing a slot and emailing too often?
any of you guys happen to have/hear this situation? what should i do now to hopefully get back the interview opportunity? any advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
just out of curiosity, after you applied online, how did until you heard for the online test?
hmm...so after i submitted apps online, i got email from them after about 3 weeks inviting me to do the online test...1 week after the test i got another email inviting me to do the phone interview...
any idea on what i can do to get back the interview opportunity? ( i heard from them last thursday and it's only been like 4 business days....)
Crunchy:
I have just gone through the process and here are my thoughts:
1) Based on my observation, I agree that they post time slots for the next day. 2) Another explanation for why the option to book an interview time has disappeared is that the open slots for the next day have been filled up. Can you confirm that the option has been gone for four days in a row?
hey brianksc, thanks for the comments. yea...it's a bit weird practice to me actually, guess I am used to those style they post everything up and I choose what works for me. Anyways, now I can be relieved as I will still be interviewed (i think...?). Since you just went through the process, would you mind share a bit insights?how long it will be and what about the case? i assume it will be a fairly concrete business related case instead of simply asking you to guesstimate how many cell phones in US rite?
(to answer your question..i've been freshing the page constantly on my phone and the option was just gone from like 6pm ystday - 8am this morning..) What you addressed in 2) perfectly makes sense to me now. Thanks a lot!
FS or GMC?
Just shoot them a direct email...been through similar proceses..they get you have a full-time gig..don't sweat it. Good luck
thank u all guys. had the phone interview this afternoon and i think it went well. thanks again for easing my nerve...lol
OW usually gives feedback very quickly, so you should hear back very soon! Good luck! =)
crunchykapo,
what questions were asked during the first phone interview? how long did it last? was it all case based?
