Oliver Wyman online numerical test

Hi all,

I applied for an entry-level position at OW in Dubai and after an initial CV screen, was invited for the online test. It's 30 questions in 20 minutes with negative marking. The test was supremely hard (tougher than any GMAT questions; and I did well on the GMAT). My strategy was simply to skip Qs I didn't get and only answer those Qs I was sure of. I think I may have score only 7-9 points on the test!! Does anyone have any idea how important the online test is; and whether my score will lead to an automatic ding?

If they select people for interviews based on the score + profile then I may still stand a chance since I have a pretty competitive profile. But if it's based solely on score, I think I'm out Any help is really appreciated!

Hey guys,

I applied to the Core Consultant Group in Amsterdam and London office on Nov 25, and received the test notification on Nov 29, and completed on Dec 1, and still waiting for a result. I did 23 questions in total, and skipped 4 questions I recall. Has anyone done the test recently and can you share your timeline as well?

Many thanks. Wilson

I did it earlier this year and it went this way:

  • Day 0: Application
  • Day 5: Assessment invitation, completed on the same day
  • Day 12: Invitation to interview, date to be agreed upon (withdrew)

It was for a Middle-Eastern office, so their recruiting might be slightly different than LDN/AMS. Regarding points, I think I answered 20+ with 2 or 3 skipped questions. From talking with a friend/manager at OW it's quite rare to have above 14-15 points so you should be fine. The test is apparently done so that scoring a 100% is practically impossible.

Thanks very much for the information, Ruhm. Did you end up picking up other offers so that's why you withdrew from the interview?

On their invitation email for the test, they did say to get back to me within 7-10 working days after I complete the test. So, I guess it is still within the time frame. I am a current MBA student, do you know if they make the interview process different for MBAs and undergrad students?
