Oliver Wyman vs. Accenture - Summer Internship

Hi All,

Looking for some insight in choosing between Oliver Wyman and Accenture for a summer role in Toronto. Which would you pick and why? Are there any major advantages to choosing either at this point?

Six4Seven:

summer already? how did you get the offer before summer recruiting even starts?

Some consulting practices (Big 4 in particular) recruit for their internships during the fall alongside full-time recruiting. Also, since he mentioned Toronto, I'm guessing he goes to a Canadian school, and their recruiting timetables could be different than what is typical in the US.

What're you going to be doing at Accenture - tech consulting or their management consulting program? Also, what type of consulting are you interested in doing long term? If it's management consulting, OW is a much more well known name but Accenture is definitely on the up and up (and supposedly their MDCP program is pretty good). If it's technology consulting, Accenture is the clear choice.

Like other posters, Accenture though it has many different practices has a decided focus on IT, chances are even if you are in strategy you will spend some time on tech related engagements. Additionally, keep in mind Accenture, at least when I rolled through the interview process has 2 different tracks S&O and the Management Consulting Analyst role. The first 1 is comparable to OW, the 2nd one is more like Big 4 advisory.
