Operations Analyst @ GS vs Financial Analyst @ Tech company?
I recently got an offer from GS for an Operations position, and I was wondering how does the career progression usually play out. The base salary is comparable to IB, but the bonus is way less.
I could also start recruiting for financial analyst roles in tech companies such as Microsoft, where I've heard starting is at least 70+, and bonuses are possible as well.
I was wondering which is a better option, and what are the pros and cons of each. Work Life Balance, Salary over time, and perks? I don't know whether to accept this offer or pursue something else. ANy help will be appreciated!
You would be crazy to accept the Operations role at a bank over the Financial Analyst role at a major brand/tech company.
Operations is boring job and GS pays only 58 and all the jobs are either moving to lower cost cities or moving to a different country.
A Financial Analyst job looks much better for an MBA application. Even if you want to work in the Financial Industry, doing well at the tech co and applying to B School will give you another shot.
Please, please do not take the Ops job over the Finance job.
I have done both, and CF >>> Ops.
