OSTC

Hi monkeys,

I was just wondering if any of you guys can provide more information on this prop trading firm OSTC. I'm from Europe and am considering to work there.

www.OSTC.com

They have done pretty well, and have expanded from a couple offices to 12 office around Europe and Asia in the past 2 years. They offer a basic salary + structured bonus.

I was just wondering if this is a good firm to consider working for? Any advice would be appreciated.

ie. like Jane Street, Jump, Trillium in the United States.

No info specifically. Looks like it was founded by a former Bunge guy, which is a top commodities trading company. However, he started it as Trading Connections which it looks like was mainly a shop for experienced guys to trade (possibly with their own money, where TC would provide infrastructure). I generally distrust firms that put Lambos on their website as it screams that they are trying to sell themselves as fast money to fresh-faced graduates. Interesting office locations.

Looks very much like an eat what you kill arcade. Just make sure you know what you are getting into.

Where is the Lambos? I don't see them in the website.

On the careers section, it says it pays a salary to all their traders, not quite the same business model as a trading arcade.

I know they do relative trading strategies on STIR and commodity products --> do you know what are the exit ops after 3-4 years? Is it a possibility to move into a hedge fund or investment management firm?

Looks to be a sports car of some sort, I assume Lambo but only because I know absolutely nothing about cars. Yeah it looks like the salary is only for the training portion (I'm just guessing based on their descriptions and very easily could be wrong). Once you're a good STIR/commodity trader you can transition to a larger fund pretty easily (or just trade on your own if you would like). One note, trading STIR by hand sounds incredibly boring; do they have an algo group or is it just click?

It is legit prop trading firm, with a main focus on derivatives. But they also provide the facilities for own account traders I believe.

"OSTC pays a basic monthly salary above the Polish national average. “That isn’t significantly less than what’s been paid by some prop companies in London as starting salaries and it’s a lot more than a great deal of London firms pay as basic salaries,” Firla says. "

Read the article for yourself, seems like they are growing pretty rapidly and expanding into equity derivatives... http://www.fow.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=2038211
