Our Questions for the Street; Are we the weird ones or are they just ignorant simpletons?
Have you asked this question (in the title)?
What hasn't been talked about since the crisis is the stupidity or simplicity of 90% of the population (I'd go so far as 95%) and their lack of will to be better, to learn new things. They don't care whether it is right or wrong. What they do care is just mingling.
I am writing this in a hotel room in London. I saw an ad on TV by Lloyds Bank - one of those retail banks in the UK. They say they give muffins to selected current account holders or free shoes to selected current account holders just as a thank you for being a loyal customer. I ask; are Lloyds Bank people stupid or do they think normal people are that stupid? Surely, 1cent in your current account (in cash) is better than getting muffins or shoes, both are perishable goods and no cash or actual money exchanges hands. In fact, this retail bank tactics are becoming quite common; some banks give you money to open current accounts.
The normal people's stupidity goes unquestioned. Why don't we question Wall Street Occupy people? It has been clear that they never understood the difference between capital markets and investment banking.
By turning a blind eye to those, the message you are sending out is whatever the outcome, right or wrong, righter or wronger, as long as you are with the majority, you are always safe. Isn't this the time to start questioning the 95% - 90% of the population?
These majority have the tendency to choose easier paths (always). They never save for retirement, for example. Over the last few days in this trip, I have found out that the UK has a very generous state support system where everyone is guaranteed a home and minimum handout payment!!! Who wants to be creative and work to live??? If you are a woman with a kid, you cannot go homeless or no food for the rest of your life. How stupid is that?
I sometimes get angry if those with no knowledge of finance or willing to learn talk about us in a negative fashion? We are very fortunate to be surrounded by people who are humble and want to learn.
I am simply saying that everyone should take responsibility for their own actions. We have had trouble of punishing the majority; no one thought it was possible to punish all Germans after the war. By the same logic, we can't punish the Wall Street Occupy people? Also as a society, shouldn't we be encouraging those who do good things? Why punish those who are trying to make more money? why not punish those who rely on the state handouts for survival? Why punish those who are willing to learn?
Huh?
"By the same logic": I don't know if I'd bring up logic with regard to your argument.
And actually, I wouldn't mind if a muffin just occasionally showed up courtesy of BofA.
Baffled
Just no.
10/10, would read again.
" If you are a woman with a kid, you cannot go homeless or no food for the rest of your life. How stupid is that?"
HAHAHAHAA. Straight on brotha. Fuck the fact that there aren't starving, homeless, single mothers in Britain.
