Do you think resume editing services that can cost up to $300 are worth it? Do people generally go for these services? If you've done it, how was your experience?

No ... post it here. You'd get much better help than from any of those shody resume editing services.
I am not trying to self promote (at least not at this moment, haha), but I think most resume services that charge that steep of a fee are doing so to cover salaries, etc. I don't think a resume revision is really worth $300. The funny thing is, I've had 4 or 5 students purchase my service or ask me for advise who have used resume editing services in the past and have paid as much as $225 or so for their new resume, and they looked bad. I'm not trying to be mean or put down competition, because I am sure there are a great many good services out there too, but looking at these particular examples, they were bad. The formatting was all over the place and terribly sloppy, the language was juvenile yet overly done - in short, it seemed like someone who revises resumes for a living did the resume, without an ounce of insight into the investment banking profession. There are a lot of smart people out there with banking experience to revise your resume, so make sure you find one of them, and not an overpriced service by someone who has never even met an investment banker.
If you can revise it yourself, I would agree with Brown that you can probably just post it here and get some responses, I try to respond to most of them and there are numerous others on here who provide valuable advice as well.
Just a bit of insight after seeing some of the other products out there - make sure the person you are giving your money to actually knows about banking and isn't just a general resume editor. Paying a lot of money does not necessarily mean a great product - then again, neither does paying a little money.

I agree with the above. Post it on WSO and assuming its not tooooo terrible, you should get some solid feedback from people who see a lot of resumes.
Agree, post it here. Only resume service I've heard good things about is Dosk, if you do want to use one I'd suggest that - I'm sure enough monkeys on WSO have used it that you could get a few responses in a thread, or by asking Dosk for the name of customers, if you want reviews.
