Part-time (school year) PWM internships
I'm curious on what opinions WSO has on PWM internships during the school year if I'm interested in investment banking. I'm at a non-target (although I'd say it has strong representation in in a few smaller banks regionally) and I'm limited to my selection of finance related internship opportunities. There are few no-name PWM firms right of campus that I could work for during the school year and I imagine it would be something for my resume as well as a job I could handle during the school year. I have no experience yet as a rising sophomore and it seems like a good idea, but the general consensus on here is that PWM internships are useless. Is this something I should pursue or a waste of my time?
EDIT: Actually, after reading what I just wrote I see no reason why I shouldn't do this. I didn't have an internship this summer and this is an obvious stepping stone that I need. But feel free to post opinions regardless
It was a good experience for me, not even because the work was worthwhile (it was not), but because it was very useful for networking
Part time PWM work during university term time? (Originally Posted: 01/19/2013)
Is this even worth it or should I just focus on regular voluntary stuff? I live in a city in the UK far from London so I don't expect them to have been approached like this.
Also, are you allowed to do the work at home or are there legal issues? Having extra work in addition to uni is no problem. The real pain in the ass would be the travelling to and from work and being required to wear a shirt and tie to uni because there's no time to get changed at home.
