Part-time work at wealth management firm helpful for IB?

I'm a sophomore with no finance experience and only some basic economics courses under my belt. I think I can get a part-time gig at a private 4-person wealth management firm this upcoming semester. Will having this experience boost my chances at getting a summer internship in IB my junior year, or am I better off spending my time learning something else in my own time?

I'm from a target school and have plenty of software engineering work experience, but I want to try IB my junior summer.
