i would definitely go with the front office position here. in terms of the experience that you gain and the deal exposure it will be invaluable

This is an easy one, "anyone" will kill for that FO role. I know I would.
Ops is back office work that is generally fairly removed from the investment process.. You'll get experience in wiring, managing cash, etc. etc. FO role will show you how to invest.
FO is likely better; unless you want to be an ops guy
Define ops here... Ops for the fund or operational improvement of portfolio companies.
If it's the latter, both options are good careers, and which one you pick depends on your interest / temperament.
You may be using "operations" here in a way that makes sense vis a vis operations of portfolio companies (eg acting as an active shareholder/pseudo CEO of portfolio companies), but runs contrary to how many people think of ops in a finance centre (eg processing, switching the light off at the end of the night).
Can you clarify what sense you are referring to "operations" in?
