Peter Lynch and Fidelity.
Hi guys,
So, anyone interested in investing will have come across Peter Lynch. He's a bit of a legend (whether you like him or not).
I just wanted to know what his impact on Fidelity was as a firm (both in terms of reputation but also strategy).
Thanks.
He's revered like a God at Fidelity.
Peter Lynch's largest contribution was probably to Fidelity's Magellan Fund, arguably one of the most known actively managed mutual funds. Lynch's style of investment is pretty simple. He bought into Hanes due to the product L'eggs. His wife had been raving about L'eggs (the first brand to get pantyhose into chains of supermarkets, etc.) and so he bought in since consumers were adopting it. If you are interested in a top level approach to what makes a "good stock" in his eyes, check out One up on Wall Street...
Does Fidelity, as a manager, take a similar approach to investment? Or is each Manager more or less independent in the way they invest?
