Petroleum Engineering to Energy Private Equity
Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice, and I'm hoping someone on here can help me out! As a first time poster/user of WSO, please forgive my ignorances. I think I've posted this to the right place..?
I'm currently studying in the UK as a Chemical Engineering undergrad and I will soon be going to study a Petroleum Engineering MSc where I intend to work for an upstream O&G company as a Reservoir Engineer.
My overall intention is to end up working in O&G focussed Private Equity firm. I've been told that industry expertise and knowledge is highly valued in this sector of industry and I was thinking of working as a Reservoir Engineer, for 4-5 years, then going back and getting an MBA and then trying to transfer into O&G focussed Private Equity.
My main question is: can it be done and if it can, do you know of other people who have followed the same path? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Also interested, I'm a UK Chem Eng undergrad too!
Can't rob somebody else's post.
