Sure. If you read the book
Sure. If you read the book and know a little about Ellis then you can intimate that P&P isn't based on any one firm; all that matters is that it's well-regarded within wall street, small and very waspy. I doubt Ellis realized that the book would be so endeared by young financiers 20 years after it was written; it's more a piece about New York in the 80s in general than any part of finance in particular. This is slightly juxtaposed to Bonfire of the Vanities where Tom Wolfe sat on the Salomon trading floor.
