Pierce & Pierce: did this ever exist?
Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) and Sherman McCoy (Bonfire of the Vanities) both worked for this firm. Is it purely fictional, or did a firm by this name ever exist? Why is the firm used in both novels?

It's certainly possible that a firm Pierce & Pirce exist(ed) just as it's possible that i-bankers name(d) Patrick Bateman or Sherman McCoy exist(ed).
Authors paying homage to one another; also a particularly suitable name for American Psycho's firm.
But really, these are dumb questions. And they're dumb because I don't see why you care about #1, and how the fuck are we supposed to know the answer to #2?
These questions remind me of stuff like I used to ask when I was 10, until I realized these questions have no point to them.
Leftover_salmon, you are a fucking jackass.

gunboat: I saw this website when I tried Googling. However, from the website this firm looks like a tiny operation, whereas in the books (especially Bonfire of the Vanities) Pierce & Pierce is touted as a very prestigious bank, so I don’t think this is where the name is from. As far as I can tell it is purely fictional, but was just wondering if someone knows something I don’t.
IBBI: Thanks.
