Please help me!!! How hard is it for me to move to Banking afterwards, Should I do MBA?

for those who have the banking/buy side experiences. much appreciated if you can help me to assess my background and provide some career planning advices.

I recently graduated from one of the top 2 university in Canada (CGPA 3.3~3.4) specialist in finance & Eco. even though enjoying a strong reputation and ranking globally, our schools business program is not competitive enough in placing student in banking. I did not get into banking as planned before and ended up with an entry level corp dev & competitive intel role at a mid size canadian based firm in financial services industry. I have been with the group for half a year now. things I did and my major responsibility are listed below. so far I was responsible for modeling when there are strategic partnership deals and conducting industry analysis. However, due to politics, I did not get placed to the transaction team when there are M&A deals at this point. By having strong interest in both tech and finance, My goal was to move to IB and eventually VC in 2 to 5 years. I understand having full transaction experience is essential in M&A world. Thus I was hoping if someone who have enough experience can tell me how to plan my career path 3 to 4 years down the road (Thinking of Corp.Dev at other firm, IB, VC). and If I want to get into IB, Are my experiences gained through the current position valuable and relevant? What things i can do to increase my chances? What size of IB firm i should target (Mid market or Boutique)? When you think will be a good time for me to switch gig considering I am only with the firm for half a year? and last question is from a long term perspective, what type of position i should aim for considering my background.
