Please help us !!

Hi people,
I am new to Canada,my husband got promoted and we had to migrate to Canada. We are presently living in a rented home. Planning to purchase a new home with the help of a mortgage. But, since we are new here, and have never taken any mortgage, we are really confused with a lot of things. We are not even sure if we do qualify for a mortgage. I was googling to know more on how things work here, and found a blog by Alberta Mortgage, on how to get mortgage for new immigrants, . Accordingly, 3 basic criteria for a mortgage qualification are credit, income and down payment. I think we do have all the necessary requirements. Is there anything more that we should be knowing? Please help us out. How and where do we start with ?
