Portfolio manager secretly murdered by wealthy/powerful client's unknown criminal lackeys for failure?(Hypothetically)
Maybe I watch too many movies. But in the United States, if you steal an item valued at over $1000, you get charged for grand larceny and get a few years in prison. However, if you are a portfolio manager and lose thousands or millions of dollars of someone else's money, somehow, it is fine, you get no penalty and no time in prison.
Hypothetically, do you think that if some portfolio manager had a very wealthy/powerful client invest millions of dollars in him and then the portfolio manager lost a large portion of the investments in the stock market, the wealthy/powerful client would then use his secret henchmen to "take care" of the portfolio manager mafia style and make it look like an accident? (For losing his money)
Any thoughts?
The way I think about it, is this way. The manager notifies the client about the risk of losing money while also getting to know the client. Now, which manager is willing to work with dirty money? and even if it is the case, the investigators definitely can get leads because they will be finding out what was the dead guy's job.
So most likely it would probably work like this: Portfolio Manager is killed -> Authorities Notified -> Authorities find out possible reasons why he would be killed or die unexpectedly -> Guilty person is found.
