Post MBA move to strategy consulting

Hey guys -- I'm applying to business school this year, and I'm just getting started with my apps. I've been working in technology consulting (ACN) for the past four years, and my post MBA goal is to move to Strategy consulting.

Do you feel that this is a realistic goal, in terms of a career switch?

Thanks.

pr0ficient:

Definitely. I can think of several people here at Booth that went from Accenture/Deloitte technology into strategy consulting at another firm.

Hi pro0ficient, just seen that you are at Booth. I have read that Booth accepts a fair amount of people from Big 4. Do you have any info on what division they usually are from (e.g. Audit, corporate finance, tax, it consulting, etc)?

I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.

People go from social entrepreneurship or marketing into mgmt consulting. You'll be more than fine. You're over thinking this. That doesn't mean to let your foot off the gas. Network like crazy and really focus in getting your summer and full time offer.

Thanks for the inputs guys, appreciate it.

Here's the thing -- Having been in ACN for the past 4 years,I feel that the main reason for me wanting to switch over to Strategy is that I've been exposed to it much more than other fields (Finance,Banking etc.). Studying other courses during my mba may actually change my end goal, i.e. I may end up having another career preference.

My concern here is that the mba essays seem to expect you to know exactly what you want to do. To be very honest, my first preference as of now is Strategy, but this may change. Is this a good approach to an mba, or is it not a very wise one?
