Potentially missing R2 deadline because of recommender

I had one recommender (former supervisor) submit a recommendation for a school and ever since he has ignored my communication efforts. I emailed him about the 2nd one last week and that went without a reply. I sent him a text a few days ago which he has been very responsive on in the past, but this time no answer. I'm obviously getting the hint that he no longer wants to do it. With R2 deadline in 3 days, should I contact him again? I can try to find and contact another recommender in time for R2, but this will take a herculean effort to get it completed.

Usually schools have a grace period for the recommender to submit. It isn't always publicized. From what I've heard, your recommender has up to a week past the deadline. I wouldn't share this with them though...

I'm not able to meet him in person. I think he did try to help for the first app and put in a strong rec based on his email that he sent me right after, but he suddenly went cold after that. Might have been something I said or something. No idea really.

I also checked the school and this one does not allow any grace period. All your material must be in the system or you get moved to R3. I will contact the school on Monday and see what they say. I plan to call another former supervisor/peer today or tomorrow. Any thoughts?
