Presently employed - Applyin to lateral job - Should current firm name be BLANKED OUT on resume? HELP
A friend is presently employed (works in IBD), and wants to apply to lateral job position.
Should he block/cross out his current firm name on his resume (to prevent issues in case current employer finds out)?
How should he do it?
....
He should, he should also block out his name and contact info so they can't trace his name/address/email/phone number back to him and tell his boss. Also, make sure to block out all educational information and work experience.. that's all very traceable.
Well played indeed ideating. To seriously answer your question, of course you should not block out the firm, otherwise anyone can just say anything and nothing will mean anything (whoa...that was a mouthful). No potential employer looking at your resume will start calling around to your group, especially if you happen to mention that you haven't yet mentioned anything to you group - it's not a big deal, people do it all of the time. If you need a reference, you will be told later in the process, you can use a previous employer, or someone other than you, I don't know, angry associate/VP who refuse to let you move on with your life. If you are offered a position, you will be given time to tell your current superiors, and give your proper 2 weeks or so. Good luck to you (or your friend)

everyone take note. that is how it is supposed to be done.
tell your "friend" that if "he" blanks out "his" current employer then no one, i repeat NO ONE, will give you (i mean "him") an interview.
