Private Equity - Current high school student

I am currently a high school student. I have a 4.0 gpa and am looking to go into Private Equity. I have researched many a time for information but nothing really answers my questions.

  1. How do you start to get into Private Equity after you finish HS?
  2. What is the best courses to take in HS/College?
  3. Columbia vs. Wharton?

These are the questions I currently have. I know that I am still young and have a lot of time to choose my future occupation but PE is the goal I aspire to. If anyone can help me answer these questions I will be very fortunate.

  1. Go to the best college possible, intern at top BB, work at top BB, get hired by PE firm

  2. Accounting, Finance, Math, whatever else interests you (you're allowed, and should have other interests!)

  3. Harvard

A lot of people will tell you that you're too young, and you are, but most of us wish we asked these questions at your age. WSO, M&I, etc are great resources.

Good luck!

Good luck!

One piece of advice that was missed here that I wish someone would have told me is to get an internship as early as possible in anything related to finance (even if it's PWM) after your first year of college.

Also, take a breath and relax. Come back here after you're in college.

  1. Don't forget to have a little fun every once in a while

Columbia or Wharton... These two places typically swap 1,2,3 with Harvard at various BBs in terms of number of kids (at least the two BBs I interned at).

Wharton kills for recruiting although you will enjoy being in NYC much more. If you're smart and capable at Columbia, there is really nothing that will limit you since being at Columbia won't "hurt" you come recruiting.
