Probation period normal for management consulting?
Hi everyone,
Is it normal for consulting firms (say MBB, Big 4, tier2/3) to impose probation period to new hires?

Yes, don't sweat it
What? No.
Are you talking about a garden leave? If so, I have never heard of that in consulting.
No I think OP means a period at the start of your job where you can be let go without severance in the event that your work is not to the quality that they expected. Almost like having a job on a trial basis. I had a probation so as far as I know thats not strange at all
Yeah everyone I know had this.
As already stated probation is normal (in my jurisdiction anyway).
I've only ever seen it used once, the person had been pushed out of a competitor and they gave them references to help expedite them leaving. Needless to say they fucked up just as bad at my firm in the first month and were ushered into the conference room.
Modi omnis ab occaecati maxime est. Nemo quo veritatis aut ducimus fugit. Quae repellat est alias saepe architecto.
