Process of Selling Research Reports?

So I recently went to a buyside firm to get a tour of the environment. My analyst friend told me that they purchase research reports (assume modeling/ect included) from sell side analysts from firms like Credit Suisse, GS, and Morgan Stanley. I wanted to know more about these research reports. How much does buyside normally pay in brokerage fees ($10,000?)? What type of commission (like 10%??) do sell side analysts earn? How long does it take to make a research report? How big are they (a couple pages long or a textbook sized report lol)? I assume most sell side analysts have something similar to a Bloomberg Terminal?
