prop trading vs broking vs ....
I've got a few job prospects and would be great if I could get some insight and advice.
prop trading: basic is extremely low. perhaps just enough to pay rent and some bananas. but the deal is to trade the firms money, and the better the performance the more buying power.
energy broking: deals with energy markets including oil, gas, coal, petrochemicals and tanker freight. heard commissions are great.
corporate finance route: regular finance route: think GE FMP, Shell Corporate finance
I'm in my final year of undergraduate studies, done BB (top-tier) Equity Research internship, and have no idea which path would present the most upside going forward. Would like to seek advice of which is easiest to learn and have a high chance of doing well.

short term pay? prop trading, it also carries the most risk
prestige/bschool exit ops? Finance Management Programs, even if you don't go to bschool and are able to rise to the top of the firm, your compensation will be tied to equity more and more.

Whatever carries the most personal risk
Whichever job carries the most personal risk will be the most lucrative (and emotionally rewarding if you succeed). Take a big base and you'll be at the mercy of the higher ups -- and I assure you they are not in generous moods right now.
Take a minimal or, God forbid, NO base and you'll prove to yourself and your employer that you've got some skin in the game and you'll be rewarded appropriately.
Something I never see people talk about on these boards is how easy it is to tell your boss to get fucked when he pisses you off if you are truly valuable to the firm. Learn everything you can, master the skills, and then no one can touch you.
I spent two years at one firm where I was fired for insubordination at least a half dozen times. After a couple of days the VP would call me and yell, "What the fuck are you doing at home?? Get your ass in here!"
Money talks and bullshit walks.
Nice
