Public Finance falls under IBD; it's technically Public Finance Investment Banking--so it'd be the same time

Hey everyone,
I am a rising junior at an East Coast target majoring in economics. I am interested in working in BB Public Finance for SA 2017 and looking for answers to some questions:
1.) From talking to people at info sessions, I learned that PubFin falls under Investment Banking at JPM, but falls under Sales and Trading at MS, and falls under Markets and Research at Barclays. Can someone in the industry explain these distinctions and how/whether this affects the actual focus of the group?
2.) How can I make my interest in PubFin clear and land interviews when resume drops are usually just for IBD, or S&T, rather than specific divisions?
3.) For those currently working in PubFin at the analyst level, how did you end up in that role, and would you change roles?
Distinctions without a difference, the key differences are within pub fin, namely how coverage is structured. Some groups do it geographically, others by product type. This matters a lot more on the day to day. If you cover general govies it is going to be a vastly different experience versus revenue bonds.
Reach out to pub fin bankers and know your shit. If you can explain the difference between negotiated versus competitive underwriting and why you'd go one way or another that's enough. Know the market, know where SIFMA, MMD and LIBOR are. Read the SIFMA guide to munis.
I'm an associate and I lateraled in through networking. I got lucky bank had a need and I was there. Would I change roles? Maybe, but it would have to be either to HY/DCM or to a credit fund or muni fund. I like credit what can I say?
Feel free to PM.

Have a public finance IB super day coming up. Wondering if anyone has advice going in on what concepts to focus on? I imagine the basics with regard to bonds?
