PwC West Coast Offer

Hello everyone!

First, I would love to thank everyone who contributes to this site. Without a doubt, this has been the most useful site for me in learning about consulting.

To give some background about myself, I go to a large,non-target public, which is recruited only by Big 4 for advisory and consulting. I received an offer for PwC in their management consulting practice in one of their west coast offices, and I would love to hear about anyone's experience out there(what type of projects, internship program, etc).

I was also interested in pursuing Deloitte S&O; however, interviews are a couple months away for Deloitte, and this sounds like a great offer to pass up. Would this look good if I was later interested in going FT at Deloitte or possibly a Tier 2 firm? Would Tier 2 firms even consider this a good internship experience?

Thank you so much for your help!

What division in PwC is your offer for? I'm also considering a Big 4 Advisory internship and want to go into consulting, but this summer would be, in effect, my sophomore summer, leaving me another summer to land another internship more relevant to consulting. The fact I have another summer after this one is the reason I'm considering the offer.

If this is your junior summer, it might be worth it to wait a few months to apply for internships more related to consulting or some sort of f500 financial analyst position if your end goal is consulting. In any case, if you think you have a shot at a consulting internship/f500 financial analyst internship/BB IB internship, I'd hold out. Anyways, congrats on your offer!

Hey thoughtpolice, I edited my original post, but it is for management consulting. I have thought about looking for a F500 fin analyst role, but not sure if that would be more beneficial, if I was applying FT elsewhere for another consulting firm. I have thought about BB IB internship, but it is super-competitive at my school, and I would not feel comfortable giving this offer up for that level of risk.

What can be more relevant for management consulting than management consulting?

It's up to your risk appetite, for sure, but why trade an offer in hand for a mere chance to get a slightly better offer? It's not MBB vs. Big 4 we're talking here, both are Big 4 management consulting, and I do not think PwC is that much worse than Deloitte, especially not after acquiring Booz.
