Question Re: Contacts

Hello.

I am just about to enter my second year at a Canadian university. Last year with no experience, I was fortunate enough to get a manager at the investment banking division of Canadian bank to forward on my resume to his HR people and put in a good word. I managed to get an interview with another division, but the competition was intense (mostly 3rd years) and I did not get the position.

Now that I am entering my 2nd year with a more relevant major as well as some experience from this summer(although not as good), would it be okay for me to contact them again and reapply for summer 2009? If so, should I contact the manager who doesnt know me that "well", or should I contact the HR person directly?

The reason I ask is because this position is typically advertised to 3rd years, but I would like to give it another shot.

Any advice would be greatly appeciated.
