Quick drug testing question

Hey guys, so a buddy of mine in college has run into a predicament. He thinks that he has to take a hair test for SA employment in IBD this summer, and he accidentally took Adderall/Ritalin (I'm not entirely sure of the difference to be honest) about 55 days before he will take the test. One of his roommates had it in a jar and he took it 3 times or so thinking that it was allergy medicine (like a Claritin or something). His roommate has a legal prescription for it. It sounds suspect but honestly he has a completely clean record and is a great kid, so here's my question to you:

I think that he should just contact HR and explain the situation kind of the way that I just did to you, before he takes the test. If it shows up then they should understand this mistake, right? He is a little hesitant and thinks that it might not show up on the test anyway. I figured you guys would provide some good insight and might agree with me. Honestly is the best policy anyway.

So 1. What should he do? and 2. Do any banks actually do hair tests for SAs? I had never heard of the practice.

P.S. I know this has been discussed in other topics to some extent before, and I've seen those, but I thought that this was more specific and warranted a new topic.

First of all, Adderall and Ritilan are chemically similar. It's just a matter of the ratio and type of Amphetamine Salts used in the drug. How he took the different drug is beyond me though. Didn't he read the label? Even I know that you never take a pill without looking for a label on the box/bottle. I'm sure it was funny watching this guy ultratweak having ingested that much Adderall at the same time. Assuming that you are taking hair from your head, the Amphetatmine Salts will still show up in your hair for a 90 day period after ingesting the drug and then it starts to become unreliable.

Second, how did he take the pills? I'm legitimately curious about this.

Third, I wouldn't expect it to be a hair test. They are expensive and time consuming. I would assume that, given the number of interns the firm will have, urine tests will be done. Provided your buddy is clean for the next 55 days and has no history of drug use, he should be fine.

If they're hair testing he is fucked. How the hell do you accidentally take adderall 3 times without knowing what it is? "Your friend" is a moron.

Agree, if you can accidentally take speed 3 times you are a fucking moron. The fact that his allergies did not clear up the first time should have been warning enough, geez.

Thanks for the responses guys. Just to clarify on this:

One, I've found out that it was ritalin that he took. Basically this kid has the ritalin in some type of pillbox/jar/whatever that has no label on it. It wasn't in the prescription bottle. He tells my friend that he has Claritin sitting in his room near his bed, and my friend sees that one first and assumes that it was the right thing. Just doing a quick search on google, the two actually do look really similar, so maybe he isn't quite as big of an idiot as I thought. Also apparently ritalin is more of a dull feeling than anything else, so who knows how he felt. Honestly he didn't look or seem any different than he normally is from what I can remember.

So bottom line he thinks that he's better off waiting and seeing and then if there's a problem then he can explain the situation. I say just tell them straight out and explain the mistake. Thoughts again?

I took a hair test for my job, and have a prescription for adderall. Was fully thinking that it would show up and they would ask me about it and I would just show them the bottle with my name on it.

Nothing showed up. Tell "your friend" to calm down.

PS No matter what if it shows up he isnt going to stand a chance if he doesnt have a prescription.

It is what it is

if worst comes to worst and he's indeed going to be hair tested, tell "him" to bleach his hair (obviously dye it back). a buddy of mine did it for an SA position at a F500 and it worked perfectly.

I haven't had a carb since 2004.
