quit after quit after quit

im at a bb in london, and i started to notice a trend in nov:
my fellow first years were getting depressed. so much so that i wanted to probe about them quitting, but i could tell that christmas was their mini light at the end of the tunnel, so they were able to keep their chins up.
well, were back now, and two weeks in, its nothing but long faces amongst a large proportion of the junior ranks. a couple of them have already quit, and many more dont seem to have much gas left in the tank... somethings gotta give (and its not gonna be the bank).
heres my question... is this disgusting behaviour present in the american offices? i just cant stop thinking about how these idiots are about to throw away a massive opportunity for themselves and their careers (and i mean MASSIVE, especially in this job environment) so they could be at home on the couch, dick in hand, by 8pm

"Opportunity"?

If you're in it for the money, this is a great time to get out. Maybe consulting will be better. Maybe not. GINIs and Herfindahl indices are at all-time highs. In order for dumb money to move to smart money and for trading profits to happen, there have to be dumb people with money. In order for mergers to happen, there have to be companies that can be eaten.

All of that takes people working, creating stuff of real value, and earning money.

And all of that takes solving very tough engineering, infrastructure, and energy problems.

Grrr how do these people quit? I thought they hire 'the best'. Sucks big time for us jobless folks!

Tell them to take testosterone injections or something and to put a sock in it. They KNEW what they were getting into....

Shut up dude... unless you've worked in it you have no idea what you're talking about. You would be in the EXACT same boat if you worked in banking... Once you start working everything changes...

Exactly, you dont know fukk all. If they didnt hire "the best" the turnover would be even greater. 2 years of 80+hrs a week is tough on the body/mind.
