RANK: Stifel, FT Partners, Piper Jaffray, Petsky Prunier, HL FAS, PJSC, Mizuho, TAP Advisors, GLC Advisors, Oppenheimer
Which would you accept a full-time offer from and why? Can anyone rank these or help me go about thinking about them? I think it's obvious that PJSC is first, but what about the rest?
Goal is to do PE after two years. Thank you for any insight.
Interested as well
And here I was thinking we were starting to see less stupid ranking threads on WSO...
How are we supposed to give you any insight at all without you even beginning to tell us what you're looking for in a bank?
How many more of these BS threads are you going to start? Get offers first, then make a thread. Jeeze, man.
I will rank them alphabetically for you in case you are having a hard time:
I refuse to do this ranking BS but MLE4444 is being completely ridiculous with that ranking.
I think you failed to pay attention to detail
LMAO these are all the banks that came to NYU Stern for full-tme recruiting. Be less basic, please. I can't believe I go to school with some of these people
What if you end up with just one offer?
HL FAS is not investment banking, so if that's what you want to do I would rule that one out immediately. You would mainly be doing fairness opinions and Big 4 accounting advisory type work (e.g. purchase price allocation).
Stifel, Piper and Oppenheimer are the only banks you listed with decent brands.. but it obviously varies based industry group. I wouldn't do banking type hours for any of the other ones you listed. Petsky Prunier is a small boutique based in OC I believe.. probably not the greatest exit opportunities. Haven't heard of any of the other ones to be honest, I'm guessing they're random boutiques. Trust me when I say banking is not worth it for a no-name boutique.
I would accept offers from either Stifel or Piper, as these are both respectable brands. I would consider Oppenheimer as well (I don't think they've been doing too well recently).
Terrible advice. Do not listen to shiningdown. Shiningdown, you haven't heard of Mizuho, one of the largest Asian banks by assets? TAP Advisors is also a good shop in NYC and London, with great telecom deal flow, headed by former UBS senior bankers.
