Rate the following MBAs for Wall St
I am trying to rank the following MBA programs for their networks and career opportunities, I would enjoy hearing others opinions as well:
NYU Stern, UVA Darden, Duke Fuqua, UCLA Anderson
My current thoughts:
- NYU Stern
- UVA Darden
- UCLA Anderson / Duke Fuqua (tied depending on which coast you want to be on)
I have to tell you that in terms of how they place into IB and PE (can't comment on S&T or HF) that you are extremely off the mark. You see a fair amount of undergrads from all of those institutions on the street. However, none of those programs place a ton of people on the street. If those are your options for school pick the university you want because your prospects for Wall St will be basically the same at all of them.
In terms of networking and career opportunities outside of banking, I would actually reverse your order.
If you want to go into IB, go with NYU (I am not sure how this is not obvious). If you want to work in the West Coast go with UCLA. Duke and Virginia are both good schools, and I would personally choose Duke over UVA bc it is a private school.
My first choice would be NYU, Duke, UCLA, Virginia...in that order. Good luck.
I have to agree with PowerMonkey. the answer to this question really depends on the individual and knowing what you want after Bschool.
If you want finance, NYU Stern is most represented of the ones you mention. The rest also send many but not as much to Wall Street. Doesn't mean one is better than the other (many in finance from NYU Stern only did the part-time program).
Overall I think these Bschools are all in the same neighborhood in terms of prestige/placement beyond finance.

Tuck and Kellogg are widely seen as more prestigous overall, but they are general management and marketing programs for the most part (from what I know).
Are Tuck and Kellogg on par with NYU for Finance recruiting, or are they way above NYU?
By finance recruiting, I mean - how easy will it be to get a job? Some schools (NYU) may place a lot, but they may just be full of kids who hustle and work their butts off for it.
Oxford will always be number one over any of you cambridge bastards!!!
Kellogg>Tuck>NYU
Thanks. This was my original guess. People on Wall Street respect Kellogg?
Oxford >any school in the whole world
