Reaching out to groups

Quick question: I started sending emails to members of a group I am keenly interested in joining when I start FT in July. However, I am interested in another group as well that sits right next to the aforementioned group. Is it acceptable to reach out to both groups even though they are in close contact/proximity with each other?
