Recently made redundant

I was working at a US bulge-bracket in equity derivatives, and was recently made redundant in the annual cull.

I have 1 years worth of experience, I DID NOT join the Analyst programme at this bank, rather, I was a direct hire onto the EQD desk.

My academics are not too great, 2.1 degree from Birmingham University (translates to a GPA of around 3.2-3.3) and zero prior work experience/internships.

My main worry is that when I attend any interviews over the next few weeks or so, all of them are going to ask why I'm no longer at bank xxx - I will have to come clean that I was in the bottom 10% of the group, will that count against me?
