Recruiter or Headhunter

Has anyone had any luck using a recruiter or headhunter to land any IBank Interviews? If so, would you share who you used, a little about the experience, and would you recommend them to others? Thanks

UGrad

Undergraduate - BS in Finance from Private school in TX

Been a Financial Advisor for a couple years, but figure that will not help at all. Even not counting the experience as worth anything, I still feel I am qualified for most Analyst positions, I am just a couple years out of school.

Headhunters might be more

Headhunters might be more motivated to get you the highest-paying job possible because their fee is 1 years salary (the firm pays this).

Headhunters Fee

HH fee's are more like 1/3 of base salary (not incl. bonus).

hh's dont help if you dont have it

a hh resume better be better than otherwise since the firm has to pay for the talent. wont take a flyer on a longshot.

Many bulge brackets work with exclusives. Most I'm sure have exclusives for each group. I have been at 3 bb's and each time I have worked with people that had brought many people onto a particular firm.

My opinion- best way to get your foot in the door is to know someone who can forward your resume within the company. I have a policy that if I receive a resume from someone I work with, I at least owe it to them to give the potential hire an interview. It doesn't guarantee they will get the job but it will guarantee that they will get a chance to get hired. If the person is not right for my group, by talking to them, they might be right for another.
