rent
Has anyone had any luck being able to pay their rent on a credit card? Not cause you can't make the payments but to get the points/miles out of one of your biggest expenses?

Why would the landlord want to pay a fee?
Ya we would rack up crazy points if that's allowed. so far I haven't seen anyone pay rent via credit cards.
no, at my building we arent allowed to pay our rent with a credit card. haven't heard of any of my friends doing it this way either.
It's rather unfortunate. I just got a new place and I was thinking the same thing. The only way I could see, is if you receive points for cash advances, and you could withdraw the cash to pay if you have the ability. However, this is most likely not worth it due to the fee's involved in taking the cash advance. Any ideas?
i had thought about this and did some research. you could do it by using paypal to withdraw the money from your credit card and then write checks directly on paypal or transfer to your normal checking account. Only problem is that paypal charges a fee..so you have to decide if the value of your miles is worth the extra premium. When I calculated it out (because i'm a analyst and thats what i do), I used the cost of an average roundtrip flight home. it wasn't worth it and i was better off just saving the money.
Sanjay1... I think the Paypal idea should work. What are the fees you came up with?
I've never done this, but can't folks use a credit card to get a cashier's check or money order at a bank and then pay the rent that way?
Anyways, apparently, there's a service out there that already accepts credit cards for rent payments:
