How much do you first year investment banking analysts py per month for rent in NYC? Like for a nice apartment in a good area (aka. not like sp. harlem). Just generally.

Most analysts pay around 1500/month, give or take a few hundred. This is for a share, though - in most of manhattan you won't be able to get your own place on an analyst salary. It also depends on neighborhood - lower manhattan is pretty expensive, but if you live somewhere like the LES or midtown/uptown you can get more bang for your buck. Regardless, expect to spend $1200/month (possible if you share with 2 other people in an older place) at the bare minimum if you want to live anywhere in manhattan.

$1400 - 1500/mo is what I hear most analysts paying. I know friends who were dead set on living alone who $1900/mo for a small studio. Also know friends jammed 4 deep in a 2br paying about 1200 a month in a great neighborhood. Personally, neither of those 2 options work for me, as A is too expensive and B I've graduated and don't need to bunk with anyone else anymore.
Also, as far as neighborhoods are concerned the UES and the financial district are probably your best bet as far as getting the most bang for your buck.
