Rising Junior w/ Questions

I have viewed the forums for a while now and have found great advice and would like to thank everyone who has contributed. I plan on contributing myself after I go through the internship application process. This is my first post, i hope its in the right spot.

Before i get into my questions id like to briefly introduce myself. I am a rising junior at a non-target (still top 100) with a 3.55 GPA where I am double majoring in fiance and real estate and I'm involved in a decent number of extra-curriculars. I currently have an internship at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management where I'm working with a couple of brokers. Last summer I interned with a local credit union. This fall i will be applying for various summer internships at banks and AM companies, mostly with a title along the lines of "Asset Management summer analyst" or "private banking summer analyst" or something to that effect.

-I am studying abroad this Fall, as most of the application should be submitted in september I am nervous about them contacting me. I will be back by early December so I don't think interviewing would be a problem, but I will not have my normal phone (accessing my email wont be a problem though) So I was curious if will they email me? or try and call me(in which case i would be screwed)?

-How much will my MSWM internship actually help? Do I have a legitimate shot at not getting rejected straight away and making the interview stage from a BB or a decent AM firm (like a Northern Trust or BlackRock for example)? I am pretty much relying on the online application plus 1 pretty good connection at BNY Mellon, as a couple BBs recruit at my school, but only for operations.

-Lastly, before i take off for Europe, id like to do a little networking with alumni on linkedin. Should I stick with only trying to contact alumni working in the department that I want, which is not many, or contact them regardless of their department, as long as its a company im applying for? Also, could I just get some general tips on how to do this from someone with expierence, like what to say?,should I ask to meet or just for advice? etc...

Thanks in advance.

Choosing an internship depends on your ultimate goal or objective. Do you need an internship only to graduate or are you looking to get your foot in the door of a Fortune 500 or MNC? If you are looking to revive a stalled career or jump start a new one, I would suggest you take a look at China which has the moost active job market at present. Here are a few links to take a look at:

Just be weary of the many scams in China and deal only with foreigned-owned companies and avoid the Chinese SMEs and MNCs which pursue swindling foreigners as a national passtime.
