Sack up or get out?
I'm a junior with a bad gpa (3.0~) at a target school. I had close to a dozen OCR interviews, but for various reasons, screwed them all up. About 2 weeks ago I got an internship with an AM fund, but its unpaid, theres no space in the office for me to work, and the guy said I'll be getting 15-20 hours of work a week tops on his various ad-hoc projects. This was less than ideal but still way better than nothing. Since it was unpaid I tried to find a paying job as well, and I found this boutique PWM shop that my friend worked at last year. Long story short, its pretty much a boiler room situation and I'm pretty miserable here. I told my AM boss about the boutique PWM shop and he told me a long time ago a company they sold to clients was a scam (he said he hadn't heard anything recent about them, and that he didn't mind me working there). The thing is, my parents really want me to be making something this summer and since my other internship is really only 'part-time' I'm worried I'll just jerk off (literally) if I stay at home all day.
So what should I do? Should I make another last-ditch attempt to find something? Should I just sack up and do what I can at the PWM shop? Should I just quit and focus on the AM shop and study for my GMATs or something? Or even just quit to relax and enjoy my last summer off?

You're definitely in an
You're definitely in an ass-horrible situation, but you have to ask yourself if the experience at the AM shop is better than the PWM firm. Given that you're a junior (and it sounds like you don't have any other internships), I suggest you go with what gives you better exposure to real workflow (read: excel).
If the AM shop would have you running around getting coffee, stick where you are. Otherwise, ditch your current shop ASAP and head to the AM firm. Forget what your parents want, it's about your career, not making them "comfortable" because you "made some cash."

Agreed. Boutiques will just
Agreed. Boutiques will just be like, oh yeah we could use an intern, and might hire you like in the next week if you just approach them. You're from a target so use your alumni network. That should've been a no brainer. And you're probably from a bigger city right? Well there are firms and funds all over the place so cold call or whatever. Just get your pitch together and you'll be fine. GPA's badish but I mean can't change that now. Play your hand, it's the only one you got.
ALSO, if you're rich just travel for the entire summer. JK. But I mean if everything else sucks, your life doesn't have to am I right?
It's always worth continuing
It's always worth continuing to put out feelers through your network: family, friends, former colleagues. The key things is that you learn from your mistakes with OCR interviews.

I'm in the northeast and many of my classmates have just recently secured summer internships...
Stick with AM and leverage
Stick with AM and leverage that towards a full time position. PWM will set you back. Considering your weak GPA, you're lucky to have that....now ball out and create an opportunity for yourself.

I couldnt log back into my old account so I'm using this new one, but its still OP here.
One thing I didn't really make clear is that right now, I'm doing both of these jobs at the same time, the PWM gig from 9-5 and the AM job afterwards. I have to go to meetings and conferences for the AM job, but I usually just sneak out of the office to do them.
I'm in a big enough city, but its not major by WSO/Wall Street standards. I contacted alumni across the financial sector, I've probably had about 50+ informational interviews and haven't really gotten any positive response. Firms that do hire interns normally aren't taking anyone on this cycle, other firms have interns, but only take children of clients or managing directors, other firms do take interns but never got back to me after I sent them my resume, etc. I'm not trying to make excuses but its really rough, and a lot of people told me they would take a look at me for FT so I'm hopeful that if I can have something this summer I'll graduate with a non-shitty job. When is it too late to keep looking? July?
I guess my central question was whether or not I should stay at this PWM shop, either for the money, or if I can put it on my resume and astound people that I worked two internships at once, even if one of them was pretty hack.
