Sailing Holidays

I remember there being an old topic on WSO with a 1 week adventure cruise or something related. I got curious on the topic again and did some searching.

I noticed there are plenty of providers who offer learn to sail weekend getaways. I was wondering whether somebody has any experience on the subject. Especially the type designed to meet new people where you could go by yourself.

I figured to post here since there are some sailing enthusiasts on this board.

Thank you.

If you have a week, the money to come to Europe with some friends, and like to party. Check out www.theyachtweek.com I hope/think they are going to introduce this in the States. They are looking for a country manager US. nothing beats a week on a yacht with Swedish girls :D

Couple options:

If you're just starting out, it's tough to beat the Colgate program:

If you have a little experience and you're ready to take it to the next level of serious offshore sailing, hook up with John Kretschmer on one of his training passages (fairly hardcore):

Another option that isn't really a vacation but could be is Sailtime. It's fractional usage and they have bases all over the world. Once you're a member, you can use boats anywhere and they're always organizing flotillas and stuff to get people together:
